Turkish construction tycoon Sarik Tara dies at 88

ISTANBUL

Honorary president of Istanbul-based ENKA construction conglomerate Sarik Tara, 88, died on Thursday.

Holding officials told Anadolu Agency that Tara, who had been under treatment at the Acibadem Hospital in Istanbul for 20 days, passed away on Thursday at 7.25 p.m. (1625GMT) after multiple organ failure.

Tara's funeral will be held on Saturday after noon prayers.

Born in 1930 in Skopje, Tara graduated from Istanbul Technical University's Faculty of Civil Engineering in 1954.

After his graduation, Tara founded ENKA unlimited company in 1957.

Tara ranked seventh in "The Richest 100 Turks" list made by Forbes Turkey business magazine in March 2018. His total assets are estimated at $2.5 billion.
