BRUSSELS
Turkish Airlines, the country’s national air carrier, sponsored The Parliament Magazine's 11th annual MEP awards in Brussels on Wednesday.
French European Parliament member, Franck Proust, received the award in the transport category from Ziya Taskent, Turkish Airlines' senior director for marketing and sales.
Taskent thanked the Committee on Transport and Tourism of the European Parliament for their close cooperation with the aviation sector.
Proust told The Anadolu Agency small-scale airports were a means of economic development.
"Therefore, to finance airports which do not exceed one million passengers, by local government is considered normal. It is an important investment to transfer money to these airports. From its income, tourism professionals, hoteliers, restaurants and scores of companies will benefit," he said.
In the ceremony, 18 members of the European Parliament were awarded for their work.
Turkish Airlines today offers flights to over 250 international destinations in over 100 countries across Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia and America.
