ANKARA
Unemployment rate in Turkey in May 2012 dropped 1.2 points over the same month a year earlier to 8.2 percent, the country's statistics authority said Wednesday.
Urban unemployment dropped 1.5 points to 10.1 percent, and rural unemployment dropped 0.9 point to 4.5 percent in the given period, TurkStat said.
The number of jobless decreased 278,000 to 2.27 million in May 2012. The figure was 2.55 million in May 2011.
The number of employed people rose to 25.2 million from 24.4 million.
