Turkey's energy production report in 2014
A hydropower station with a capacity of 62 MWs has been built in Turkey's southern Adana province.
ANKARA
Turkey's energy sector reached 64,000 megawatt (MWs) levels of installed capacity in electricity, according to energy ministry officials.
In 2013, Turkey had around 57,000 MWs of electric power. It increased its capacity by 12 percent earlier this year, reaching 64,000 MWs. In January, 21 electricity power stations were put on line in 13 cities, allowing it to reach its projected capacity in 2014.
Turkey added 287 MWs of electric capacity in January. Hydroelectric power plants will produce 205 MWs of energy, 56 of which will be produced from wind plants and 26 MWs from fossil fuels. A hydropower station with a capacity of 62 MWs has been built in Turkey's southern Adana province.
Electricity consumption and production rise
Electricity consumption has increased 2.7 percent year-on-year, while production rose 3.7 percent in January. Electricity production was 1 percent higher than consumption.
Turkey is trying to increase its installed energy capacity to 100,000 MW by 2023.
