Turkey’s Minister for Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz stated Thursday they tried to "configure energy not despite the environment, but along with the environment."
Speaking at the 5th Atlantic Council Energy and Economic Summit in Grand Tarabya Hotel in Turkey’s Istanbul city, Yildiz said the world has bought a welfare level before it deserved it, adding a world was created thereby always in debt to energy.
Saying they aimed to double Turkey's energy usage in next ten years, Yildiz noted it’s monetary equivalent was around $118 billion in investing terms.
“This investment will not be a preference, but a must. Turkey will continue to its growth along not alone but together with the region in its energy investments within the framework of strategy and its policies,” Yildiz said.
The minister also stressed an investment of $17.9 trillion should be made by world’s states as 1.3 billion people have still not met with electricity and energy.
Reminding that renewable energy resources, energy efficiency and several other issues were debated in recent meeting of International Energy Agency, Yildiz stressed their model partnership with US would continue in several energy projects also at the technological level.
Yildiz noted for the normalization of Iraq and the increase of its incomes as a whole, the projects must be developed without making any division between the north, south, east and west of the country.
Turkey’s agreements with central Iraqi government and its contracts with the northern regional part of Iraqi government were attached to the “normalization process of Iraq.”
“Turkey is one of the countries, which could best contribute to Iraq,” Yildiz said. “In this framework, this is one of the conformable issues between Turkey and US. I believe that this would also lighten the pressure on politics.”
Yildiz added the bank receipts of the oil, carried out from Northern Iraq were definitely shared by Turkey with the central government, adding they believed into “territorial integrity and to the right that the constitution gave to them," respecting those.
