ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 0.41% to 1,124.17 points at close on Friday.

After starting the last transaction day of the week at 1,130.72 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 4.61 points from Thursday's close of 1,119.56 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,123.76 and 1,135.07 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 829 billion Turkish liras ($108 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of some 21.3 billion Turkish liras ($2.8 billion).

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lenders Garanti, glass manufacturer Sise Cam, and defense giant Aselsan.

Cemtas was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while conglomerate Alarko Holding dropped the most, losing 2.16%.

One ounce of gold sold for $1,863.60 by market close, up from $1,852.25, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent oil was $41.66 per barrel as of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT) on Friday.
