Turkey's benchmark stock index closed at 1,359.55 points on Tuesday, up 0.77% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,348.08 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index gained 10.44 points from Monday's close of 1,349.11 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 1,341.93 points, while its daily high was 1,360.50 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was over 1.02 trillion Turkish liras ($119.4 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of more than 11.04 billion Turkish liras ($1.29 billion).

On the second transaction day of the week, 62 stocks on the index rose, 34 fell, and four were flat compared to Monday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by polyester producer Sasa, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and private lender Akbank.

RTA Laboratories, operating in biology and health fields, was the best performer of the day with its shares up 4.49%. Stocks of conglomerate Bera Holding saw the sharpest drop with 2.81%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,790 by market close, down from $1,809 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $73.52 per barrel as of 6.33 p.m. local time (1533GMT).
