BIST 100 index earns over 450 points, while Turkish lira gains in value against foreign currencies

ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index rose by 0.46%, or 451.33 points, to start the last transaction day of the week at 99,231.71 points.

On Thursday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased by 0.87% to close the day at 98,780.38 points with a daily trading volume of 9.51 billion Turkish liras ($1.62 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 5.8360 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Friday, compared to 5.8810 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also decreased to 6.4310, versus 6.4890, and one British pound traded for 7.2850 Turkish liras, while it was 7.2060 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $60.10 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Friday.
