Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts week up

ANKARA

Turkey's benchmark stock index went up 0.29 percent or 297.52 points to open at 103,564.09 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index ended the week down 1.21 percent at 103,266.58 points with a daily trading volume of 6.77 billion Turkish liras ($1.26 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.3810 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) Monday, compared to 5.3890 at the last close.

The euro/Turkish lira rate was 6.1200, versus 6.1380 at Friday's close, and one British pound was exchanged for 7.1405 Turkish liras, slightly down from 7.1420.

One barrel of Brent oil was sold for $65.27 as of 10.00 a.m. local time (0700GMT) Monday.
