Turkey's Borsa Istanbul starts week looking up

ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index rose 0.21% or 208.77 points to start the week at 100,445.47 points on Monday.

On Friday, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index decreased by 0.10% to close the day at 100,236.70 points with a daily trading volume of 8.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate fell to 5.7230 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT) on Monday, compared to 5.7310 at Friday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also dropped to 6.3080, versus 6.3180, and one British pound traded for 7.1530 Turkish liras, while it was 7.1460 at the previous close.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $64.80 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT) on Monday.
