Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down at weekly close
BIST 100 loses over 16 points on Friday
ISTANBUL
Turkey's benchmark stock index fell 1.49% to 1,083.83 points at close on Friday.
After starting the day at 1,093.52 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index lost 16.43 points from Thursday's close of 1,100.26 points.
During the day, the index hovered between 1,077.32 and 1,096.18 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was 796.5 billion Turkish liras ($108.9 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 14.5 billion Turkish liras ($1.97 billion).
On the last transaction day of the week, 23 stocks on the index rose, 72 fell and five were flat compared to Thursday.
The highest trading volumes were posted by investment trust Emlak Yatirim, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines and private lender Garanti.
Telecommunication firm Netas was the best performer, with its shares up 9.97%, while stocks of automotive company Karsan dropped the most, losing 7.90%.
The price of one ounce of gold was $1,946 by market close, up from $1,934 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was around $44.80 per barrel as of 6.15 p.m. local time (1515GMT) on Friday.
