ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index closed the day at 95,394.24 points with a drop of 0.13% on Thursday.

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 95,730.34 points. As of closing, it lost 127.87 points from Wednesday's close of 95,522.11 points.

The benchmark index hovered between 94,349.28 and 96,117.11 points during Thursday's trading.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 634.5 billion Turkish liras ($111.1 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 6.6 billion Turkish liras ($1.14 billion).

On the fourth transaction day of the week, 36 stocks on the index rose, 49 were down, and 15 were flat compared to the previous close.

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank.

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti and aviation company Pegasus Airlines.

Thursday's best performer was Pegasus, with its shares up 5.90%, while stocks of energy company Odas Elektrik dropped the most, down 4.73%.

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,494.00 by market close, down from $1,501.60 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $59.95 per barrel as of 6 p.m. (1500GMT) on Thursday.
