ANKARA
Turkey's benchmark stock index went down 0.43 percent to close at 94,347.66 points on Monday.
Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index fell 411.98 points from Friday's close of 94,759.64 points, while it started the day at 94,477.37 points.
The total market value of listed shares on the BIST 100 was some 619 billion Turkish liras ($102 billion) at the close, while trade volume of the benchmark index totaled 6.35 billion Turkish liras ($1 billion).
The benchmark index hovered between 93,790.14 points and 95,105.03 points during trading hours, while 39 stocks on the BIST 100 rose, 57 fell, and four were flat compared to the previous close.
Among all sectors, the BIST investment trusts index was the best performer, up 3.25 percent, while the BIST food beverage index index saw the largest decline, falling 2.57 percent.
Real estate investment trust Ihlas Gayrimenkul (IHLGM) was the top gainer of Monday, as its stocks rose by 19.51 percent, and food giant Ulker Biskuvi (ULKER) showed the worst performance, its shares fell 7.16 percent.
With regards to daily trade volume, top listed companies were private lender Garanti Bankasi, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, another private lender Is Bankasi, prominent defense company Aselsan, leading petrochemicals producer Petkim.
The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate rose to 6.2860 as of 5 p.m. local time (1400GMT) Monday, while the USD/TRY closed last week at 6.1350.
One euro traded for 7.3550 Turkish liras by market close, compared with 7.1620 at Friday's close.
The GBP/TRY exchange rate was 8.2890 at Monday's close, while one British pound traded for 8.0540 Turkish liras at the previous close.
In Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets, one ounce of gold traded for $1,197.50 by market close on Monday, down from $1,205.00 at the previous close.
As of 6 p.m. local time (1500GMT), the price of Brent oil stood at $78.33 per barrel -- hovering between $77.85 and $78.90 during Monday -- climbing from around $66 at the beginning of 2018.
