Turkey's Borsa Istanbul down 0.21% at daily close

ANKARA 

Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed Friday at 106,903.68 points, down 0.21% from the previous close. 

Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index started the day at 107,300.11 points. As of the daily close, it lost 222.49 points from Thursday's close of 107,300.11 points.

During Friday's trading, the index hovered between 106,564.41 points and 107,669.69 points. 

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 723.68 billion Turkish liras ($125.86 billion) by market close, and the daily trading volume was 7.98 billion Turkish liras (some $1.4 billion). 

On the last transaction day of the week, 46 stocks on the index rose, 46 were down, and eight were flat compared to Thursday. 

The top-listed companies by market value were Turkish conglomerate Koc Holding and private lenders Garanti and Akbank. 

The highest trading volumes were posted by national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, Garanti and iron/steel producer Eregli. 

Conglomerate Ihlas Holding was the best performer with its shares up 20%, while shares of information technologies company Netas dropped the most, down 3.66%. 

The price of one ounce of gold was around $1,457.00 by market close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The U.S. dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 5.7510 as of 4.30 p.m. local time (0130GMT) on Friday, compared to 5.7680 at Thursday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 6.3230, versus 6.3540, and one British pound traded for 7.4280 Turkish liras, versus 7.4570 at the previous close. 

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $61.58 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
