ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index was up 1.54% to close Friday at 1,291.29 points -- an all-time high.

Starting the day at 1,277.06 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index earned 19.54 points over Thursday's close of 1,271.75 points.

During the day, the index hovered between 1,272.76 and 1,292.83 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 951.5 billion Turkish liras ($122.14 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 31.4 billion Turkish liras ($4.11 billion).

On the last transaction day of the week, 84 stocks on the index rose, 15 fell, and one was flat compared to Thursday.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti, iron/steel producer Kardemir and another private lender Yapi Kredi.

Paper and carton producer Kartonsan was the best performer, with its shares up 10%, while stocks of aviation firm Pegasus dropped the most, losing 6.24%.

The price of one ounce of gold was $1,885.50 by market close, up from $1,872.25 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul's Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was around $43 per barrel as of 6.20 p.m. local time (1520GMT) on Friday.
