ANKARA
Most of Turkey's trade over the last year was transported by ships, according to Turkey's Statistics Institute.
Figures show that 55.5 percent of Turkey's exports were sent by sea, while 56 percent of imports were received by sea.
In 2013, Turkey's exports were down 0.4 percent year-on-year, reaching US$151.86 billion, while its imports were up 6.4 percent year-on-year to US$251.6 billion.
Road transportation for exports came second with a share of 35.36 percent, while imports by road made up 15.9 percent.
Air transport came in third; exports totaled 8.49 percent, and imports 12.91 percent.
