Turkey sees 150,000+ auto sales in Jan.-May
According to distributors' report, market shrinks by 49.57% year-on-year
ANKARA
Turkey’s overall automotive sales totaled 152,456 in the January-May period this year, the Automotive Distributors' Association (ODD) reported Tuesday.
Distributors' figures revealed that the market shrank by 49.57%, compared to 302,311 sales in the same period last year.
In the five-month period, a total of 120,354 passenger cars were sold in Turkey, falling 48.71% year-on-year.
On the light commercial vehicle market side, the sales declined by 52.56% on a yearly basis, amounting to 32,102.
Prominent automotive manufacturers including Fiat, Ford, Honda, Hyundai, Mercedes, Renault, and Toyota have manufacturing operations in Turkey which is among the world’s top auto sale markets.
In Turkey, a total of 620,937 automobiles and light commercial vehicles were sold last year, down from 956,194 in 2017.
