Turkey’s Borsa Istanbul down 1.2% at Friday's close
BIST 100 index loses 16.78 points from previous close
Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,384.68 points on Friday, down 1.2% from the previous close.
Starting the day at 1,394.95 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 16.78 points from Thursday’s close of 1,401.46 points.
The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,376.01 points, while its daily high was 1,397.36 points.
The total market value of the BIST 100 was almost 1.05 trillion Turkish liras ($121 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 13.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).
A total of 23 stocks on the index rose, 75 fell, and two remained unchanged compared to Thursday’s close.
The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and energy giant Tupras.
Shares of private lender Albaraka Turk performed the best, rising 10%, while stocks of conglomerate Net Holding dropped the most, 5.92%.
One ounce of gold traded for $1,747.50 by market close, down from $1,773.50 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.
The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.9% to $77.96 per barrel as of 6.25 p.m. local time (1525GMT).
