Turkey’s benchmark stock index closed at 1,401.46 points on Friday, down 0.35% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 1,398.93 points, Borsa Istanbul’s BIST 100 index lost 4.93 points from Thursday's close of 1,406.39 points.

The index’s lowest value during the day was 1,394.55 points, while its daily high was 1,407.79 points.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was more than 1.1 trillion Turkish liras ($124 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of over 11.94 billion Turkish liras ($1.34 billion).

A total of 38 stocks on the index rose, 56 fell, and six remained unchanged compared to Thursday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by private lender Garanti BBVA, national flag carrier Turkish Airlines, and glassmaker Sise Cam.

Shares of Turkey’s leading tractor producer Turk Traktor performed the best, rising 3.58%, while stocks of waste-to-energy firm Biotrend dropped the most, 9.42%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,756.10 by market close, up from $1,732.55 at the previous close, according to data from Borsa Istanbul’s Precious Metals and Diamond Markets.

The price of Brent crude oil was up 0.36% to $78.59 per barrel as of 6:43 p.m. local time (1543GMT).
