New plan targets sustainable export approach, says Turkish trade minister

ISTANBUL
Turkey announced Thursday its Export Master Plan to realize a goal of sustainable export.
"We aim a sustainable export approach within the scope of the plan," Turkey’s Trade Minister Ruhsar Pekcan said at a new meeting in Istanbul.
"We have selected 17 target countries -- the U.S., Brazil, China, Ethiopia, Morocco, South Africa, South Korea, India, Iraq, the U.K., Japan, Kenya, Malaysia, Mexico, Uzbekistan, Russia and Chile, respectively," she said.
The ministry prioritize machinery, automotive, electrical and electronics, chemical and food industries as target sectors, Pekcan elaborated.
"We aim to raise the share of high-tech export on our total exports to 5% from its current level of 3.5% through setting up specialized free-trade zones," the trade chief said.
