Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Ali Babacan attended on Thursday an Istanbul meeting of heads of Asian stock exchanges.
Delivering a speech at the meeting, Babacan said that they were living in a period where world's equilibriums were swiftly changing.
"World's economic weight has been moving from west to east for a while. Economical growth center is moving from developed countries to developing countries, and the depression in 2008-2009 made this movement faster. Developing countries' share on global economic activity in 1980s was 23 percent, but now it rose to 47 percent," the minister said.
Babacan stated that Turkey was the fastest country that reduced the number of unemployment rate speedily according to International Labor Organization.
Noting that Turkey also healed its income distribution in the recent years, "During the economic downturn usually income distribution becomes unbalanced. However, Turkey had made its income distribution better during the term, and made a significant progress on fight against corruption. Per capita income in Turkey also rose, and we do not have any citizen whose daily income is under 2 US dollars now," said Babacan.
