MOSCOW
The ruble started out Wednesday morning at 54.6 to the U.S. dollar and 66.5 to the euro.
While the value is still at record lows, the ruble has at least remained relatively stable, compared to the uncontrolled plummet it experienced on Dec. 16, which saw it fall to lows of 80 and 100 to the dollar and euro, respectively.
The RTS Index contracted somewhat compared to Tuesday, beginning Wednesday morning at 794.99.
