MOSCOW
There will be no help from Russia's central bank for mortgage holders whose loans are denominated in dollars, warned Ksenia Yudaeva, first deputy chairwoman of the bank at Tuesday's Gaidar forum.
"I really don't understand why it has to be the central bank," Yudaeva said, responding to an audience member's question.
The deputy chairperson also pointed out that Russia recently enacted bankruptcy laws for individuals, and that mortgage holders could appeal to the country's financial ombudsman.
Meanwhile, a special interdepartmental commission has been convened to investigate the causes of the so-called "Black Tuesday," Dec. 16, 2014, when the ruble fell to record lows not seen since 1998.
The commission, which was requested by members of Russia's Duma, will include representatives of Russia's central bank, the Federal Security Service, the Federal Service for Financial and Budgetary Oversight, and the prosecutor's office.
