Lufthansa extends suspension of Mideast flights
Security concerns, regional airspace restrictions prompt Lufthansa Group to extend flight suspensions to several Middle Eastern destinations, including Dubai and Tel Aviv
ISTANBUL
German flag carrier Lufthansa Group on Monday extended the suspension of several flights to the Middle East, including services to Dubai, amid continuing Israeli and US attacks on Iran, and Israeli attacks on Lebanon.
In a statement, the airline group said it had made comprehensive adjustments to its flight schedule in response to the deteriorating security situation in the region and ongoing airspace restrictions.
The company said flights to Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Dammam (Saudi Arabia), Amman, and Erbil (northern Iraq) will remain suspended until the end of the day on March 15.
It added that all flights to and from Tel Aviv, as well as connecting services from the city to other destinations, have been suspended until the end of the day on April 2 due to the current situation.
The Lufthansa Group had previously decided to suspend flights to Jordan’s capital Amman and Erbil until March 15.
Flights to Beirut have been canceled until March 28, while services to Tehran, Iran’s capital, remain suspended until April 30.
Despite the restrictions, airlines within the group will continue operating certain routes, with Lufthansa and ITA Airways maintaining flights to Riyadh, and Eurowings continuing its services to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia as scheduled.
