Major European bank HSBC reported a pre-tax profit of approximately $8.5 billion in the third quarter of 2024, a 10% increase from the same period last year, exceeding expectations.

The bank's financial results released on Tuesday indicated that last year’s pre-tax profit for the same quarter was $7.7 billion, while analysts had anticipated a figure of $7.6 billion.

HSBC's post-tax profit for the third quarter was $6.75 billion, reflecting a 7.7% increase from the prior year.
