Global crude steel production decreased 1.2% year-on-year to 144.2 million tons in August, driven by a decline in China, the largest producer, the World Steel Association said on Thursday.
China, the world's largest steel producer, saw its production decline 3.7% to 74.6 million tons during this period.
India increased its production 4.6% to 14.8 million tons.
Estimated production in the US rose 3% to 7.3 million tons, and Japan's production increased 0.4% to 6.7 million tons among other leading producers.
According to estimated data, Russia's production fell 0.3% to 5.5 million tons, while South Korea boosted its production 2.6% to 5.4 million tons.
Türkiye produced 3.4 million tons of crude steel in August, marking a marginal 0.4% decline compared to the same month last year.
Germany's production reached 2.6 million tons with a 1.7% increase, while Brazil's production dropped 6.2% to 2.7 million tons in the same period.
Vietnam, achieving the highest monthly increase among the top 10 producers, raised its production 36.4% to 2.7 million tons.
Global crude steel production decreased 0.7% year-on-year to 1.2 billion tons in the January-August period.
China's production fell 3.1% to 651.9 million tons, while India's production increased 6% to 115.9 million tons during this period.
Estimated production in the US rose 5.5% to 57.5 million tons, and Japan's production dropped 0.2% to 54 million tons in the same period.
According to estimated data, Russia's production went down 5.1% to 43.8 million tons, while South Korea increased its production 2.8% to 42.8 million tons.
Türkiye increased its crude steel production 6.8% to 26.6 million tons in the January-August period compared to the same period last year, maintaining its strong growth trend.
Eight-month production in Germany stood at 23.9 million tons with a 6.3% increase, and Brazil's production dropped 1.8% to 21.8 million tons.
