Exports up 3.4% while imports saw 4.5% rise year-on-year in December

Germany's trade surplus at $250B in 2024

ISTANBUL

Germany posted a €241.2 billion ($250.2 billion) trade surplus in 2024, according to Destatis data on Friday.

The country's exports totaled €1.55 trillion and imports reached €1.31 billion in 2024. Exports decreased by 1.3% and imports dropped by 3.0% compared with 2023.

On a yearly basis, Germany's exports rose 3.4% to €131.7 billion in December, while its imports also increased 4.5% to €111.1 billion.

On a monthly basis, exports rose 2.9% and imports also grew 2.1% in December compared to November.

Germany's exports to fellow EU members totaled €72.4 billion in December, while its imports from these countries were €57 billion in the same period.

The country's exports to countries outside the EU amounted to €59.3 billion in December 2024, while imports from these countries totaled €54.1 billion.

Most German exports in December went to the US, down 3.5% from November, totaling €13.5 billion.

Meanwhile, exports to China increased 1.4% to €6.7 billion and exports to the UK dropped 3% to €3 billion.

Germany’s imports in December came mostly from China, totaling €13.4 billion.
