German air carrier Lufthansa’s cabin crew will go on a week-long strike starting on Friday, a labor union chief has revealed.

A statement from cabin crew union UFO chief Nicoley Baublies claimed the time that their organization gave to Lufthansa to meet their demands expired on Thursday.

Stating a last-ditch meeting had broken up within minutes, Baublies said: “No option is left to prevent the strike that starts tomorrow.”

Baublies also claimed that Lufthansa was not in a condition to meet the demands of its employees.

The union and Lufthansa had been locked in talks to discuss an improvement in staff pensions.

Lufthansa pilots have staged more than a dozen strikes since April 2014 which resulted with the cancellation of thousands of flights.
