German government spokesman Steffen Seibert hailed the Turkish economy during a news briefing on Monday.
“We always express our interest in good relations with Turkey,” Seibert said.
He mentioned last week’s phone talk between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Chancellor Angela Merkel which confirmed the meeting between finance ministers of both countries ahead of Erdogan’s visit to Germany set for Sept. 28-29.
Separately, Merkel also said Turkey is not in need of support because of its current economic situation, according to the Christian Democratic Union, Germany's ruling party Secretary General Annegret Kramp-Karrenbauer quoting her as saying in their board meeting.
