European stock markets close positive, post weekly gains

European stock markets close positive, post weekly gains

ANKARA

All major indices in Europe closed in positive territory on Friday, posting weekly gains, according to data compiled by Anadolu Agency.

The STOXX Europe 600, which includes around 90% of the market capitalization of the European market in 17 countries, rose 3.47 points, or 0.74%, to close at 469.39. The index rose 2.64% this week.

London's FTSE 100 increased 26 points, or 0.37%, to 7,234, while Germany's DAX 30 added 124 points, or 0.81%, to 15,587. This week, the indices added 1.95% and 2.5%, respectively.

France's CAC 40 rose 42 points, or 0.63%, to close at 6,727 points. It was up 2.55% for the week.

Italy's FTSE MIB 30 showed a strong increase, jumping 211 points, or 0.81%, to 26,489. Borsa Italiana rose 1.68% this week.

Spain's IBEX 35 added 72, or 0.81%, to end at 8,997. For the week, the index increased 0.46%.

The strong market results came despite the EU posting a trade deficit of €5 billion ($5.9 billion) in August, according to figures the statistical authority Eurostat released earlier on Friday.
