European stock markets close midweek mixed

Stoxx 600 up 0.1%, UK's FTSE rises 1.14%, while Germany's DAX slips 0.53%, France's CAC loses 0.18%

European stock markets close midweek mixed

European stock markets ended Wednesday with a mixed course, affected by geopolitical risks from the US-European Greenland dispute.

The pan-European Stoxx Europe 600 index rose 0.1%, or by 0.61 points, to close at 621.58 for the midweek.

Also, the UK's FTSE 100 index rose 1.14% to end at 10,472.11

On the other hand, Germany's DAX 40 was down 0.53% to 24,856.15 points, while Italy’s FTSE MIB 30 dropped 0.62% to 46,510.83.

France's CAC 40 index fell 0.18% to 8,313.24, and Spain's IBEX 35 declined 0.43% to close at 17,439.5 points.

EU Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, speaking at the European Industry Summit in Antwerp, stated that public procurement carries significant financial power and that the commission will introduce EU content and low-carbon requirements in strategic sectors to support European companies.

The European Parliament approved a €90 billion ($106.9 billion) loan to Ukraine to meet its financing needs for 2026 and 2027.

The euro/dollar parity was at 1.1887, down 0.07% as of 1750GMT.
