Euro area trade balance posts $22.2B surplus in November

Eurozone goods exports to rest of world came in at $276B in Nov. 2023, imports total $254B, shows official data

The eurozone trade balance saw a €20.3 billion (about $22.2 billion) surplus in Nov. 2023, according to official data released on Monday.

The figure has shifted from a €13.8 billion deficit in Nov. 2022, Eurostat data showed.

Euro area goods exports to the rest of the world fell 4.7% year-on-year to €252.5 billion in November 2023, while imports plunged 16.7% to €232.2 billion.

Intra-euro area trade dropped to €227.2 billion in Nov. 2022, a 9.4% decline from Nov. 2022.

The EU27 registered a trade surplus of €19.2 billion in the month, compared to a deficit of €22 billion in the previous year.

In January-November, the eurozone's overseas shipments amounted to €2.62 trillion, while its imports were €2.57 trillion.

As a result, the single-currency zone saw a surplus of €49.7 billion in the first eleven months of last year.
