Economists expect rise in Turkey's April inflation
Group of economists surveyed by Anadolu Agency project annual inflation reached 17.27% in April
ISTANBUL
Turkey's annual inflation rate is projected to have risen to 17.27% in April, an Anadolu Agency survey found on Friday.
Turkey's annual inflation rate in March was 16.19%, up 0.58 percentage point from the previous month.
The Turkish Statistical Institute will announce the April consumer prices index on Monday.
A group of 20 economists polled by Anadolu Agency forecast that monthly inflation averaged at 1.79%, varying between 1.30% and 2.12%, in April.
Turkey's Central Bank on Thursday increased the country's year-end inflation forecast to 12.2% for this year, up from 9.4% in its previous report.
The figure is expected to fluctuate between 10% and 14.4% through the end of this year, Sahap Kavcioglu, the bank's governor, said.
