Diesel price in Belgium hits all-time high

The price of diesel in Belgium reached an all-time high of $2.78 per liter.

The Belgian Economy Ministry announced new maximum prices applicable to various fuel types across the country as of Sept. 22; the price per liter of B7 diesel increased by 3.3 cents to €2.5 ($2.78) starting Tuesday.

The new figure surpassed the previous record of €2.489 set on April 9.

The maximum price per liter of B10 diesel, which contains up to 10% biodiesel, also rose by 3.4 cents to €2.493.

The per-liter price of diesel used for heating reached €1.6217 for orders under 2,000 liters and €1.5812 for orders exceeding this amount.

Gas stations cannot exceed these regulated prices.

Transportation issues in the Strait of Hormuz and the Bab el-Mandeb Strait, along with attacks damaging Saudi Arabia's East-West Pipeline used to deliver oil to the Red Sea, recently pushed the barrel price of Brent crude over $100.
