Denmark’s annual inflation rate soared to a new all-time high of 8.9% in August.

The consumer price index was up from 8.7% in July and 1.8% in August 2021, according to official figures released on Monday.

Among sub-indices, the highest increase of 15.9% was in food and non-alcoholic beverages, followed by transport (11.8%) and restaurants and hotels at 11.5%.

On the other end were health at 2.2%, communication (2.3%), and education with 2.6%.
