Business registrations, bankruptcies rise in EU
Statistical office states that both new business registrations, bankruptcy declarations show increase in final quarter of 2025
ISTANBUL
Business registrations in the EU increased by 0.5% in the last quarter of 2025 compared to the third quarter, while bankruptcy declarations also climbed by 2.5%.
The information and communication sector recorded the highest growth in new business registrations with a 6.4% jump, Eurostat announced on Monday.
This significant rise was followed by the industry sector at 4.9% and accommodation and food services at 1.3%.
Modest declines were observed in trade at 0.3%, while construction and transport both fell by 0.1%.
Bankruptcy declarations notably surged in the accommodation and food services sector by 8.6%.
The information and communication sector also faced a difficult period with bankruptcies rising by 7.9%.
Decreases in bankruptcy filings were recorded in the trade sector at 3.4% and finance at 0.7%.
