ANKARA 

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,131.97 points on Wednesday, up 0.78% or 8.72 points from the previous close.

At Tuesday's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 0.19%, reaching 1,123.25 points with a daily trading volume of 22.6 billion Turkish liras ($2.9 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 7.7910 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), compared to 7.8340 at the previous close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also fell to 9.1370 versus 9.1930 while the British pound traded for 10.0200 Turkish liras, down from 10.1020.

One barrel of Brent crude oil sold for around $41.09 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT)
