Borsa Istanbul starts week looking up

ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened the week at 1,401.59 points, up 0.26% or 3.59 points from the previous close.

At last week's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up by 0.08% to 1,398 points, with a daily trading volume of 14.3 billion Turkish liras ($1.6 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate dropped to 8.9370 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.9430 at Friday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also decreased to 10.3360, compared to 10.3550, while one British pound traded for 12.1850 Turkish liras, down from 12.2090.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $83.60 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
