Borsa Istanbul starts week looking up

ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened the week at 1,393.19 points, up 0.61% or 8.51 points from the previous close.

At last week's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was down by 1.2% to 1,384.68 points, with a daily trading volume of 13.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.5 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 8.8760 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.8570 at Friday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate rose slightly to 10.3980, compared to 10.3720, while one British pound traded for 12.1620 Turkish liras, up from 12.1430.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $78.10 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
