Borsa Istanbul starts Thursday looking up

ISTANBUL

Turkey's benchmark stock index opened at 1,409.28 points on Thursday, up 0.13% or 1.82 points from the previous close.

At the midweek's close, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index was up rapidly by 1.58% to 1,407.46 points, with a daily trading volume of 11.2 billion Turkish liras ($1.3 billion).

The US dollar/Turkish lira exchange rate stood at 8.6680 as of 9.30 a.m. local time (0630GMT), versus 8.6460 on Wednesday's close.

The euro/Turkish lira exchange rate also stood at 10.1690, compared to 10.1510, while one British pound traded for 11.8510 Turkish liras, up slightly from 11.8270.

One barrel of Brent crude oil was sold for around $76.30 as of 10 a.m. local time (0700GMT).
