Canadian train and aircraft manufacturer Bombardier and Turkey’s Bozankaya on Tuesday agreed a joint tender to produce 80 high-speed trains for state railway TCDD.
The $100 million technology transfer investment will see Bombardier bid for the high-speed train project with Bozankaya, the Canadian company’s Turkey Director Furio Rossi said at a news conference in Ankara.
Turkey plans to purchase 106 high-speed trains as it expands the national high-speed rail network.
Murat Bozankaya, head of the Bozankaya Group, said onward sales to third countries were also planned.
He said the firm had a deal with Germany’s Siemens to produce 172 metro trains for Bangkok.
The tender is expected to take place before the end of the year.
