Airbus delivers 72 aircraft in November, in slower pace
Aviation giant delivered fewer aircraft than before in November, after quality issues in some A320 family aircraft caused Airbus to lower 2025 delivery target
ISTANBUL
European aviation giant Airbus announced Friday that it delivered 72 aircraft in November, fewer than the previous month, amid A320 jet family issues.
In October, the firm delivered 78 aircraft, while it delivered 84 units in November 2024, Airbus data showed.
Since the beginning of the year, Airbus delivered 657 aircraft to its customers.
The slowing pace came after an industrial quality issue was detected last week in some A320 family aircraft following a request for an urgent software update. Airbus directed an immediate precautionary software update for its A320 family after identifying that intense solar radiation could corrupt data critical to flight-control functions.
The firm said it has consequently identified a significant number of A320 Family aircraft currently in service that may be impacted. Additionally, the European Union Aviation Safety Agency has issued an Emergency Airworthiness Directive for the Airbus A320 family.
On Monday, Airbus announced that software updates have been completed on thousands of A320 family aircraft following last week's warning.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday, Airbus announced that it lowered its target for commercial aircraft deliveries for this year to 790 from 820 units in its previous forecast, due to a recent supplier quality issue on fuselage panels impacting its A320 Family delivery flow.
In 2024, Airbus delivered 766 aircraft to its customers instead of the target of 800.
