 Turkiye's Borsa Istanbul closes Wednesday with gains

ANKARA

Turkiye's benchmark stock index closed at 2,064.21 points on Wednesday, up 0.89% from the previous close.

Starting the day at 2,070.35 points, Borsa Istanbul's BIST 100 index rose 18.18 points from Tuesday's close of 2,046.03 points.

The index's lowest value during the day was 2,055.66 points, while its daily high was 2,074.76.

The total market value of the BIST 100 was around 1.65 trillion Turkish liras ($120.1 billion) by market close, with a daily trading volume of 37.2 billion Turkish liras ($2.7 billion).

During the day, 67 stocks on the index rose, 27 fell, and six were unchanged compared to Tuesday's close.

The highest trading volumes were posted by iron and steel producer Kardemir, glassmaker Sise Cam and national flag carrier Turkish Airlines.

Conglomerate Alarko Holding was the best performer with its shares up 6.64%, while stocks of software developer Logo saw the sharpest drop – 2.05%.

One ounce of gold traded for $1,819.85 by market close, up from $1,815.20.

The price of Brent crude oil was at $84.20 per barrel with a 0.57% gain as of 6.27 p.m. local time (1527GMT).
