Legendary Egyptian actor Omar Sharif, best known for his roles in Lawrence of Arabia and Doctor Zhivago, has died at the age of 83.
Sharif died of heart failure in a Cairo hospital on Friday, his agent said.
The actor had been diagnosed with Alzheimer’s disease in May.
The performer won two Golden Globe awards and an Oscar nomination for his role in 1962's Lawrence of Arabia.
The star also performed in a 2003 French movie called Monsieur Ibrahim, taking the role of a Turkish shop owner in Paris who tries to befriend a Jewish boy.
