NEVSEHIR, Turkey
Twenty thousand more tourists flocked to Cappadocia in January than did in the same month last year - bringing the total visitor numbers for last month to 93 thousand, according to a statement from the governor of Nevsehir province.
The most popular tourist destinations of the regions were Goreme Open-air Museum, Kaymakli and Derinkuyu underground cities, the statement said.
Cappadocia is preserved as a UNESCO World Heritage site and is famous for its chimney rocks, hot air balloon trips, underground cities and boutique hotels carved into rocks.
