ANKARA

Typhoon Nanmadol hit southeastern South Korea, causing damages, power outages, and displacing hundreds of people, local media reported on Monday.

So far, one person was wounded in Busan after a flowerpot fell over at a subway station, Yonhap News Agency reported.

The typhoon also brought strong winds that damaged the power system in Ulsan on Sunday night.

This is the 14th typhoon this year moving north from near Japan's Kagoshima at a speed of 18 kilometers per hour, said the agency citing the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters.

The local authorities said that Nanmadol is expected to move out to Japanese water from the South Korean port city of Busan later today.

Heavy rain and wind also disrupted the vessels and train service while authorities also shifted hundreds of families to safer places in Busan and Ulsan.

Earlier this month, super Typhoon Hinnamnor caused huge damage and killed at least 10 people in the South Korean southeastern city of Pohang.
