Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on Tuesday met in the capital Ankara with visiting Afghan Vice President Abdul Rasheed Dostum.

"We discussed the peace and reconciliation process in Afghanistan," Cavusoglu said later on Twitter.

"Our support for all Afghan brothers will continue."

In recent years Dostum is said to have spent extensive time in Turkey, including for possible medical treatment.

His visit comes amid a push by the U.S. for talks with the Taliban rebels and concerns over a sudden withdrawal of foreign troops from the war-weary country.
