Turkish first lady’s gifts presented to Malaysian queen

KUALA LUMPUR 

Turkey's ambassador to Malaysia presented the Turkish first lady’s gifts to the Malaysian queen.

Ambassador Merve Safa Kavakci on Wednesday conveyed First Lady Emine Erdogan's greetings to Queen Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah at a private reception held at Istana Negara, the Royal Palace of Malaysia.

Malaysian King Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah also participated in the meeting and conveyed his greetings to Turkey.

Talking with the embassy delegation, the queen said she closely followed Turkish TV series, and added that she was very interested in Ottoman and Turkish history.

Later, Kavakci presented a congratulatory letter and gift package sent by the Turkish first lady to the Malaysian queen on the occasion of the New Year, while the queen offered her gratitude to Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and First Lady Erdogan.

Queen follows Turkish TV series

During the ongoing visit with a lunch given in honor of Kavakci, the Queen said she followed the Turkish TV series, including Payitaht Abdulhamid, Awakening: Great Seljuks, and Establishment: Osman, with great interest, underlining that the leading figures in the series were inspiring.

Noting the historical ties between Turkey and Malaysia, the queen also said she wanted to visit Turkey as soon as possible.
