Taliban ban drug cultivation in Afghanistan
Use, trade of all kinds of drugs prohibited across country, says order by Taliban leader

KABUL
The Taliban on Sunday announced a ban on the cultivation of narcotics in Afghanistan.
According to an order by Taliban leader Hibatullah Akhundzada, the use and trade of intoxicating substances such as alcohol, heroin, drugs, cannabis, and factories producing all kinds of drugs are banned across the country.
Anyone who violates the decision will be prosecuted and punished, the order added.
Although the consumption of alcohol was officially prohibited before the Taliban’s interim government in Afghanistan, it was sold in secret all over the country.
