Philippines reports over 3,000 new COVID-19 cases

ANKARA

The Philippines recorded over 3,000 new coronavirus cases in the past 24 hours, officials said on Tuesday.

According to the Health Ministry, the total number of cases rose to 307,288.

With 37 more fatalities, the death toll also rose to 5,381.

A total of 252,665 patients have recovered.

The deadly virus also spread among the Philippine police as 61 more officers tested positive for COVID-19. With this, infections in the police force have risen to 5,812, according to state-run media

So far, 17 police officers have died due to COVID-19, while 4,610 have recovered.

The number of deaths from the novel coronavirus around the world has surpassed one million, while the case-count is above 33 million, according to Johns Hopkins University data.
